Confirmed: Florian Kohfeldt to remain Werder coach

Florian Kohfeldt will continue on his work as Werder Bremen coach, the club have announced.
Werder Bremen CEO Klaus Filbry has confirmed that Florian Kohfeldt will stay on as coach for the new season despite a disappointing 2019/20 campaign that saw the club finish 16th in the Bundesliga and avoid relegation by beating Heidenheim on away goals in the play-off.

"We're all sat here, because together we all accept responsibility. We had an open, honest and self-critical analysis of the season. Personnel-wise, we will continue as we are now," Filbry said at a press conference alongside Kohfeldt and fellow club bosses Frank Baumann, Marco Bode and Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald.

"Those who think there are only two extremes - 'stick on same path' or 'fire some people' - will be disappointed. We know things cannot continue as they were. We need to be prepared to learn from our mistakes and to change," added Marco Bode.

Kohfeldt, 37, was appointed Werder coach in 2017.
