Michael Zorc: Dortmund don't need to sign a back-up for Erling Haaland
Borussia Dortmund are not planning to sign a new striker this summer, says sporting director Michael Zorc.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has no plans of bringing in a new forward to relieve some of the pressure on Erling Haaland.
Speaking to Kicker, Zorc insists Dortmund don't need to sign a back-up for the 20-year-old, who scored 16 goals in 18 appearances following his January move from RB Salzburg.
"We didn't score too few goals last season," Zorc said when asked if Dortmund need a new striker.
Jadon Sancho and Thorgan Hazard are both natural wingers, but were often deployed as central strikers last season.
"In this sense, there is no longer a classic number nine," Zorc said.
Sancho, 20, has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer, and should he leave, Dortmund would feel the need to replace him.
"If Jadon leaves, we will need to act," Zorc underlined.
