Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo expects wantaway striker Nicolas Gonzalez to stay

Nicolas Gonzalez has publicly said he wants to leave Stuttgart and is being linked with Dortmund, Leeds and Napoli. But Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo still expects him to stay.
VfB Stuttgart coach Pellegrino Matarazzo says he still expects Nicolas Gonzalez to stay even though the 22-year-old recently made it clear that he wants to leave the club.

Borussia Dortmund, Leeds and Napoli are said to be interested in Gonzalez, who has been valued at around €20 million, but Matarazzo hasn't given up on keeping the striker at the newly-promoted Bundesliga side.

"I expect him to stay with us. I don't pay attention to rumors. Right now, Nico is with us, and it's important that we know everything. If anything changes, that's how it's going to be," Matarazzo told Sky.

I value Nico as a player, but also as a person, and I like to pass on my thoughts to him. I want to help him," he added.

Gonzalez made 27 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga last season, scoring 14 goals. His contract with Stuttgart expires in 2023.
