FC Köln coach Markus Gisdol hasn't given up on pursuit of Mark Uth

FC Köln coach Markus Gisdol remains hopeful that Mark Uth will join the club from Schalke 04.
FC Köln haven't given up on their pursuit of Schalke 04's Mark Uth, says head coach Markus Gisdol.

Uth spent the second half of last season on loan at FC Köln, and Gisdol remains hopeful of signing the striker permanently.

"Mark left a big hole here. He was involved in almost all our goals. We haven't written him off yet and are still hopeful that he will ultimately join us," Gisdol told Bild.

Meanwhile, Gisdol is waiting for the club to get a few other deals over the line. Among others, Köln have been linked with Paderborn's Streli Mamba and Nürnberg's Robin Hack.

"Now we need to make sure that we will clearly and unambiguously implement the discussed and necessary transfer plans as a club," said the Köln coach and added:

"We simply don't have enough players at the moment, and that's why we need players for a few positions. But that has been clearly discussed, and now it's a matter of implementation."
