VfL Wolfsburg have announced the signing of French centre-back Maxence Lacroix.

Laxence, 20, joins 'Die Wölfe' from FC Sochaux and has put pen to paper on a four-year deal.

"Maxence is another logical next step in bringing talented young and hungry players to Wolfsburg who can then develop to a higher level with us and take the next step in their careers. He has got everything he needs to establish himself in the Bundesliga, said Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schäfer in a statement.

The French under-20 international is excited to take on a new challenge in a Germany.

"I'm really looking forward to this new challenge at VfL and of playing in the Bundesliga. The conditions here in Wolfsburg are great, I really like the stadium and right from my first visit, I knew that I had come to the right place and that it would be the best place to continue my development," Laxence said and added:

"The first thing I want to do now is to get settled in and get to know my new team-mates and the whole new environment. I'll be working hard right from the off to play as many games as possible and to be successful with VfL."
