Lucien Favre: Marco Reus is ready for Dortmund's opening game of the season

Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre says Marco Reus is ready for the new season after the 31-year-old started and scored in a friendly against Sparta Rotterdam yesterday.
Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus made his return from seven-month injury break as he started and scored in Monday's 2-1 win over Sparta Rotterdam on Monday.

Speaking to Sky after the game, Dortmund coach Lucien Favre said he was pleased with what he saw from the 31-year-old.

"He's ready," Favre said, looking ahead to Dortmund's opening game of the 2020/21 season in the DFB-Pokal against Duisburg on Monday.

"I'm very pleased that he's back. He has worked well and intensively. I asked him at halftime whether he would be able to continue playing, and he said everything was good. It's good that he can play 70 minutes straight."

Reus scored 12 goals and made seven assists in 26 games for Dortmund last season.
