Leroy Sané plays down 'Robbery' comparisons after impressive Bayern debut

Leroy Sané insists he and Serge Gnabry don't deserve to be compared to Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben just yet.
New Bayern München signing Leroy Sané believes it's too early to compare his partnership with Serge Gnabry to that of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

The duo have been nicknamed 'Sanabry' after they in their first game together in a Bayern München shirt, providing four goals and two assists between them in Friday's 8-0 rout of Schalke 04.

Comparisons are already being made with Robben and Ribery, but Sané insists he and Gnabry still have a lot to prove before they deserve to be likened to the legendary duo, who became known as 'Robbery' during their highly successful stint at Allianz Arena.

"I'm not ready to allow comparisons with 'Robbery' yet. The two have shaped the club for a whole decade, playing at a world-class level. For now, only one game together in the FC Bayern jersey went quite well for us," Sané told Sport Bild and went on to talk about his relationship with Gnabry.

"The contact with Serge has simply never broken off over the years. We played together in the youth teams for Germany. Now we still get along very well on and off the pitch," he said.
