Go for Kickoff: Germany vs. Ukraine receives full green light

A comprehensive round of tests conducted on both of the German and Ukrainian national sides revealed no new positive COVID cases.

The German Nationalmannschaft's penultimate match of 2020 will take place as scheduled.
Earlier concerns that four recent positive corona-tests might derail this evening's UEFA Nations League fixture were put to rest when the Leipzig Health Department declared itself satisfied that the match could be conducted safely.

Andriy Shevchenko's Ukrainian national team were subject to a thorough round of quick-result corona tests. When no new cases emerged local authorities affirmed that the fixture had the green light to proceed. All German players and staff involved in the game also tested negative on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, Shevchenko's staff also contacted UEFA directly to see if recent events might warrant a cancellation. Europe's footballing body replied that, since the Ukraine still had 17 outfielders and 4 goalkeepers available to contest the match, nothing ran afoul of the confederation's protocols.
