Dortmund hit by injuries for Zenit tie

Dortmund will have to manage without Erling Haaland, Thomas Meunier, Mahmoud Dahoud, Mateu Morey, Thomas Delaney, Manuel Akanji, Raphael Guerreiro and Reinier against Zenit.
Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre has confirmed he will be without eight first team players for Tuesday's Champions League clash with Zenit.

"Several players will not be there. Haaland, Meunier, Dahoud, Delaney, Morey, Akanji and Guerreiro are all out," Favre told reporters at the pre-match press conference.

Dortmund have recently been boosted by the return of Real Madrid loanee Reinier, who contracted COVID-19 in November, but the game against Zenit comes too soon for him.

"He has returned from his 14-day quarantine and trained a little. He got some work done on the bike this morning. Maybe he can be with the team again on Thursday. It will take some time to get him back into shape," said Favre.

The BVB coach also hinted that club captain Marco Reus could come back into the starting eleven after he was rested for Saturday's 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt.

"We rotate and will continue to do so. He could play a very important role," said Favre.
