In an interview with Bild after the game, the German international admitted he was surprised that Bayern coach Hansi Flick chose to sub him off.
"The substitution came as a surprise to me at first. I've not tried that before. But it something that happens once in a while. The team was right by my side after the final whistle, and we were all happy about the three points," said Sané.
Flick said he had 'no other option' but to take off Sané.
"When we make substitutions, we have to do it sensibly. If you see the second half, Thomas Muller is indispensable, Serge Gnabry improved in the second half, that's why I substituted Leroy Sané," said Flick.
“We had to react like that because there was no other option."
