Löw names German national team squad for September matches

Joachiw Löw has announced his first German national team squad following the World Cup disappointment.
At a press conference today, German national team coach Joachim Löw has named his squad for the upcoming matches against against France (UEFA Nations League, September 6) and Peru (friendly, September 9):

Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer, Marc-André ter Stegen.

Defenders: Jerome Boateng, Matthias Ginter, Jonas Hector, Mats Hummels, Thilo Kehrer, Joshua Kimmich, Antonio Rüdiger, Nico Schulz, Niklas Süle, Jonathan Tah.

Midfielders and forwards: Julian Brandt, Ilkay Gündogan, Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané, Julian Draxler, Kai Havertz, Nils Petersen, Timo Werner, Leon Goretzka, Toni Kroos, Marco Reus.

It's worth noticing that Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz, Paris Saint-Germain's Thilo Kehrer and Hoffenheim's Nico Schulz have been called up for the first time while the experienced Sami Khedira has been left out.

Löw also talked about the disappointing World Cup campaign that saw Germany crash out of the group stage.

"The World Cup exit was obviously a huge blow for me and us. There's no reason to gloss over that. We all performed way below our possibilities and we were rightly punished for that," Löw said at the press conference and added:

"At the end of the day, the most important thing for Oliver Bierhoff (general manager) and me was that we still have the energy and motivation to put what we botched back on track."
