Löw confirms plan to hand Musiala first Germany call-up

Jamal Musiala is set to receive his first Germany call-up after confirming his desire to represent 'Die Mannschaft' rather than England.
Germany coach Joachim Löw has confirmed reports that he intends to call up Bayern München youngster Jamal Musiala for the upcoming fixtures against Iceland, Romania and North Macedonia in March.

In a statement released by the German Football Association, Löw speaks highly of Musiala following the 17-year-old's announcement that he has decided to represent Germany instead of England.

"Being allowed to play for your country must be a matter of the heart for every player. That's why I'm delighted that Jamal Musiala has decided he wants to play for Germany in the future. I see huge potential in him, and of course we've had our eyes on him for some time," said Löw.

"[Germany general manager] Oliver Bierhoff and I recently met him in Munich and told him our thoughts. No one can give him a guarantee at this stage, that would be frivolous. But I do think that we will now call him up in March, especially since we will select a larger squad due due to the fact that we will be playing three games in few days. This will help us get to know each other better."
