Bremen's "Lücke" finally fully fit for potential start against Frankfurt

At this point in time, there can be no more difficult opponent for a Bundesliga side to face than red-hot Eintracht Frankfurt. Germany's Hanseaten face an extremely difficult test on Friday evening,

Werder Bremen trainer Florian Kohfeldt may at least take small solace in the fact that he, for the first time in eons, has his full attacking corps at his disposal.
At his latest press conference, Florian Kohfeldt declared the Niclas Füllkrug "phase-in" project to be over. The 29-year-old played 34 minutes as a sub in Bremen's 0-4 loss to Hoffenheim last weekend. In the opinion of his head-coach, the talismanic attacker is fit enough to slot into the starting XI.

The young trainer also noted that he had been satisfied that the oft-injured Davie Selke looked solid during his full week of high-intensity training sessions. Unlike in previous pressers, Kohfeldt outright declined to commit to any attacker in terms of a guaranteed starting place. Josh Sargent, Yuya Osako, and Milot Rashica "are all eligible for the front two positions."

"All of them are capable of playing and that's where I have to make decisions," Kohfeldt told members of the assembled press corps, "In any case, I'm not going to make decisions to please anyone. It's all about who's in the best shape and who bests suits the opponent."

For the second consecutive year, Bremen have been left to wonder what might have been had Füllkrug been able to remain healthy. Another injury-riddled year has limited the man teammates often affectionately refer to as "Lücke" to only five starts and eight overall appearances.

Füllkrig has scored four goals this season, including a hat-trick against Schalke in the second round that earned him team-of-the-week honors.
