Rummenigge plays down Haaland links

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has responded to speculation that Bayern München could make a move for Erling Haaland.
Bayern München CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has played down speculation linking Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland with a move to the club.

"I don't know where these rumors come from," Rummenigge emphasized in an interview with Sport Bild.

"I can only say one thing: We have the world's best footballer in this position. Robert Lewandowski has a contract until 2023, and seeing his professionalism, the way he trains and how he keeps his body in top shape, I'm convinced the end of his career is not yet in sight."

Asked if that means there is no place for Haaland at Bayern, Rummenigge responded:

"As I said, we have the world's best footballer, Robert Lewandowski. He's on track to beat Gerd Müller's record of 40 goals in a Bundesliga season and is at the peak of his career.

Haaland, 20, has found the net 33 times in 31 games for Dortmund this season.
