Huntelaar could be in line to start for Schalke against Leverkusen

Several months after his return to Schalke 04, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could finally make his first start for the club this season against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar could be in line to make his first start for Schalke 04 since his move from Ajax in January.

Due to various injuries, Huntelaar has been limited to just 24 minutes of Bundesliga football so far, but Schalke coach Dimitrios Grammozis says the veteran striker has made great progress ahead of Saturday's clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

"Klaas-Jan has made the most progress of the returning players as his cameo against Gladbach showed. He's definitely an option for the starting XI," said Grammozis at the pre-match press conference.

In general, Schalke's injuries are slowly clearing up.

"We've been able to welcome back several players to training during the international break. Sané, Uth and Paciencia have all managed to complete large parts of training," revealed Grammozis.

"I'll have to see how the lads are doing today and tomorrow. If they continue like this, they could feature - but we will have to consult the medical team and the players themselves."
