The World XI candidates: Four German stars in contention

Four German players are among the candidates for the FIFPro World XI. Check out all the nominees here.

The list of candidates for the FIFPro World XI has been announced - and five German internationals are in contention for the team.

Marc-André ter Stegen (FC Barcelona), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid) as well as Mats Hummels and Joshua Kimmich (both Bayern München) are all among the 55 candidates on the shortlist.

VfB Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard and Bayern München striker Robert Lewandowski also made the list.

The players have been selected on the basis of the votes of nearly 25.000 professionals from 65 countries. Each participant has been asked to select a goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three strikers.

The final team will be announced on September 24 at 'The Best FIFA Football Awards' show in London.
