Florian Wirtz has extended his contract with Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayer Leverkusen have announced that Florian Wirtz has put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.

On his 18th birthday, the highly-rated youngster has committed himself to 'Die Werkself' by signing a new long-term deal until 2026.

"Florian Wirtz holds promise for the future and guarantee of sporting success in the present. It is impressive how courageously and confidently he has already asserted himself in professional football," said Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes.

"'Flo' has what it takes to become a top player in the Bundesliga in the coming years and an important part of the German national team as well."

Wirtz, who joined Leverkusen from FC Köln in January 2020, commented:

"Everything at Bayer 04 Leverkusen has been exactly as it was predicted and promised to me. I play for a super club, one of the best in Germany, with whom I want to reach the highest goals in the next few years.

"I'm able to continue to improve football-wise as part of a great team. That is and remains my ambition. I want to help us achieve titles here in the near future with my performances."

The attacking midfielder has notched up eight goals and eight assists in 44 games for Leverkusen so far.
