Ribéry turned down 'serious offers from China'

Franck Ribery reveals he could have gone to China, but he would rather stay another season at Bayern München.
Franck Ribery says he turned down 'serious offers' from China before extending his contract with Bayern München towards the end of last season.

"My goal was always to continue with Bayern. I didn't want to go elsewhere or deal with other things. But there were serious offers from China. The numbers were on the table," the 35-year-old told Kicker and added:

"But I like the Bundesliga and the Champions League which I dream of winning for the second time. I have big goals, and I think I can add something to the team. If I had the feeling that I was empty and exhausted, I would have left. I didn't want a contract just to keep me here."

Ribery current contract runs until 2019, but he won't rule out that he could stay longer than that.

"I would like to spend another year here. But you have to wait and see how the season is going. I'm complety relaxed and doesn't put pressure on myself now. You have to assess yourself and your achievements rightly. It's all too early now," Ribery said.

The 35-year-old winger joined Bayern München in 2007. Since then, he has made 391 appearances with 117 goals and 180 assists to his name.
