Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl confirms interest in Niklas Dorsch

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl has sung the praises of Niklas Dorsch amid reports linking the 23-year-old with a move to WWK-Arena.
Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl has confirmed reports suggesting that 'Die Függerstädter' want to bring Niklas Dorsch back to Germany from Belgian side KAA Gent.

In an interview with Kicker, Weinzierl makes no secret of his admiration for the 23-year-old, who won the Under-21 Euros with Germany last month.

"He has led a young team, has led the way, which is part of the reason they won the European Championship. He is a player with a great mentality, who would do us a lot of good," said Weinzierl and added:

"It's not secret that I hold him in high regard. But so do many others coaches.

"It's important for a young player to play, and he has a good opportunity to do that here."

According to reports, Augsburg have made an improved offer for Dorsch after Gent turned down their initial €6 million bid.
