Reports: Bielefeld close in on Atalanta fullback Lennart Czyborra

The left-back about to join a Bundesliga side from Atalanta Bergamo isn't the famous one some may have been hoping for

It nevertheless appears as if Arminia Bielefeld have scored a coup by obtaining 22-year-old German defender Lennart Czyborra.

Italian transfer experts Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca di Marzio report that Atalanta Bergamo will recall left-back Lennart Czyborra from his loan spell with Genoa and re-loan him to DSC Arminia Bielefeld of the German Bundesliga.

The East Westphalian club had been targeting Maximilian Ullman of Rapid Wien, but DSC sporting director Samir Arabi recently confided to a local newspaper that the 25-year-old was beyond the club's current financial reach.

Bielefeld have already racked up a negative transfer balance approaching an estimated €6 million during the current summer window. A loan--even one with an obligatory purchase clause--could help the small market club defer debt. Czyborra's latest market value is listed at €3.5 million.

It goes without saying that--at a €35 million estimated market value--Atalanta's Robin Gosens remains beyond the reach of most all Bundesliga clubs operating under COVID losses.
