Official: Joshua Kimmich signs new Bayern deal

Joshua Kimmich has officially extended his contract with Bayern München.
Bayern München have confirmed that Joshua Kimmich has signed a new contract with the club.

The Bavarians have announced on Monday that the German international has put pen to paper on a new deal until 2025.

"The most important reason for my contract extension is that here at FC Bayern I can pursue my passion with joy every day. I have a team with which I can achieve anything, and what's more, many teammates have become real friends. That's why I started playing football in the first place: Because it should be fun," said Kimmich.

"I don't see myself at the end of my development yet and I'm convinced that a lot is possible at FC Bayern in the next few years. In addition, my family feels very comfortable here. Munich has become a second home. You don't find the combination we have here everywhere in the world."

Bayern president Herbert Hainer, CEO Oliver Kahn and board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic are all delighted that the 26-year-old has decided to commit his long-term future to the club.

"We are happy to be able to go into the future with Joshua Kimmich. He has developed into a top international player with us, and it is important for us to keep players with such qualities in our team for the long term. With him, FC Bayern also have the best opportunities to achieve big and ambitious goals in the future," said Herbert Hainer.

"Joshua totally identifies with FC Bayern," added Oliver Kahn.

"He has recognized the value of playing in a club for the long term and being able to help shape many things, as well as being involved in great successes and in an era. He knows that at FC Bayern he has the chance to realize all his ambitious goals. The package we can offer him is highly attractive for any top international player."

Hasan Salihamidzic commented:

"With this contract extension, FC Bayern are sending a clear signal both internally and externally. We want to keep our best players for the long term. Joshua Kimmich will continue to develop his great qualities as a leader at FC Bayern over the next few years and make history. He is a world-class footballer with an outstanding mentality, and all as a professional and as a person he offers everything that has always distinguished FC Bayern."
