Denis Zakaria was keen to leave Borussia Mönchengladbach during the summer transfer window, but ended up staying put as no lucrative offers came in.
As a result, the 24-year-old midfielder will now have to decide whether he wants to aim for a transfer in January, run down his contract, which expires next summer, or sign a new deal.
Zakaria has been stalling on a new deal until now, but Kicker reports that a contract extension could still be on the cards as Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl wants do all he can to prevent losing Zakaria on a free transfer.
The fact that Gladbach are in a similar situation with Matthias Ginter doesn't make things any easier for Eberl, though.
