Jerome Boateng found guilty of assault on ex

The 33-year-old, who joined Lyon on a free transfer this summer, appeared in court in Munich and denied all allegations, claiming he himself was the victim.
The mother of his twin daughters, Sherin Senler, claimed that she had been assaulted by Boateng during an argument on their holiday in the Caribbean in July 2018.

She said that Boateng had thrown a lamp and a small cooling box at her, on top of punching and biting her during a fight.

Boateng told a different story and claimed that his ex-fiancée had attacked him and injured his lip. He said that the episode escalated after Senler and a friend accused him of cheating while playing cards.

The public prosecutor has been investigating the case since 2019, including video evidence of the alleged assault. The case was delayed several times until the judge ruled today that Boateng was guilty and fined 1.8m euro.

The couple started dating in 2007 and got engaged in 2014. In 2011 they became parents to their twin girls, Soley and Lamia. During their turbulent 10 years relationship, they were separated on numerous occasions.

Boateng had 363 appearances for Bayern and won nine Bundesliga and two Champions League titles with them. In 2014, he won the World Cup with Germany when they beat Argentina 1-0 in Brazil.
