On-loan SC Freiburg midfielder Robert Wagner will remain unavailable for FC St. Pauli in the coming weeks after suffering a structural muscle injury in a test fixture during the November international break. The 21-year-old experienced German youth international had to exit proceedings early during a 1-1 exhibition against Eintracht Braunschweig.

Wagner featured in St. Pauli trainer Alexander Blessin's starting XI in half of this season's ten league fixtures, recently losing his starting role to fellow SC Freiburg academy man and potential future Algerian international Carlo Boukhalfa. Both Boukhalfa and Wagner started in the Thursday test fixture as Blessin tried out a new tactical system.

The newly promoted Kiezkicker have secured two league wins this season and currently occupy the promotion-relegation playoff place. The fact that the Hanseatic side still haven't scored a goal at home this year and have had some hard luck injuries nevertheless nevertheless provides plenty of cause for concern.
