Florian Wirtz has received plenty of criticism for his start to the season with Liverpool, but he was the standout performer in Germany’s 2-0 win over Serbia.
Speaking after the game, Jürgen Klopp hailed the 23-year-old, who set up Tom Bischof’s opener before scoring a fantastic goal in the second half.
“The way we want to play suits ‘Flo’ Wirtz,” Klopp said, according to AZ, adding that he believes everyone at Wirtz's club will be delighted with the attacking midfielder’s performance.
“I think everyone in Liverpool is very happy today. The boy is brimming with the joy of playing and has worked incredibly hard,” added the former Liverpool manager.
Wirtz will be looking to build on his impressive performance when Germany travel to Greece on Sunday in their final game of the international break.
