According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, 1.FC Union Berlin's Diogo Leite is on the verge of a transfer to the Serie A.

Lazio will reportedly pay a fee of almost €2.5million for the left-footed centre-half to bring him to Italy this winter.

The contract of the 27-year-old with the Köpenick side is only valid until the end of the season resulting in him leaving for a cut price.

Although Leite is a regular starter again this campaign, both player and club have categorically ruled out a potential extension.

With Danilho Doekhi also set to leave, Union Berlin are looking for a replacement in central defense.

Reports have already suggested that Zeno Van den Bosch of Royal Antwerp is already confirmed as a summer signing.
