DFB suspends Pavard for two league matches

The DFB disciplinary committee confirmed a two-match ban for Bayern München's Benjamin Pavard on Monday afternoon.
The DFB disciplinary committee confirmed a two-match ban for Bayern München's Benjamin Pavard on Monday afternoon.

League-leaders Bayern München will have to do without defender Benjamin Pavard for both league fixtures on both sides on the international break. The 25-year-old French international saw red in the 48th minute of Friday night's 3-1 win over SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

FCB head-coach Julian Nagelsmann criticized Pavard for the challenge against Fürth midfielder Julian Green, which he called "unnecessary."

Pavard will be unavailable for upcoming fixtures against Eintracht Frankfurt (round seven) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (round eight). The suspension applies only to the league and thus does not affect Pavard's availability for the Champions' League midweek.
