Wolfsburg boss defends Kovac after criticism: 'It's crazy and inappropriate'

Wolfsburg boss Jörg Schmadtke feels Niko Kovac has been treated unfairly lately.
Niko Kovac has been backed by Wolfsburg sporting director Jörg Schmadtke who believes the Bayern München coach has received way too much criticism lately.

The Croatian coach has been questioned after a bad spell of four games without a win, but that's not fair according to Schmadtke.

"To be honest, I think it's madness. It's crazy and inappropriate," Schmadtke told Sky and added:

"14-20 days ago, Bayern were unreachable, dominating the league once again, and Kovac was a coach who could walk on water. And not even three weeks later, Kovac is no longer able to give the team a plan that promises success. That's not true and not okay. I think that is way too black and white."

Kovac has led his team to seven wins, two draws and two losses since he joined from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.
