Reis: "I knew that the path would not be easy"

Despite a rowdy atmosphere at the Veltins-Arena, Schalke could not give Thomas Reis a goal in his disappointing debut.
Last-place Schalke fell again on Matchday 12, but players and coaches tried to keep spirits high following the home defeat. Sebastian Polter, who played under Thomas Reis at Bochum, interestingly started over Simon Terodde up front.

Polter thought they could have been more efficient offensively: "If we play the counterattack properly, we can sometimes take the lead."

Goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow said, "It's just going well at Freiburg. - We must not fall into a deep depression now, but we have to take a good feeling with us."

"I knew that the path would not be easy, you saw that today," said Reis. "There must certainly be more in the future."

Schalke play Werder Bremen, Mainz and Bayern Munich before the much-needed World Cup break.
