BVB boss won't rule out winter transfers

Could Borussia Dortmund sign a replacement for the injured Manuel Akanji this month? BVB boss Michael Zorc won't exclude anything.
When Borussia Dortmund departed for their training camp in Marbella, Spain today, two prominent players were missing on board the plane - Jadon Sancho and Manuel Akanji.

Sancho was missing because of personal reasons and will join up with the team after the weekend while Akanji is in Switzerland to have his groin injury examined.

According to reports, Akanji could be forced to spend the rest of the season on the sidelines if it is deemed he needs surgery, and Dortmund are thus said to be lining up a replacement for the Swiss international in the form of Leonardo Balerdi who plays for Boca Juniors in Argentina.

Asked about the possibility of bringing in a new centre-back in January, BVB sporting director Michael Zorc told Funke Sport:

"First of all, we have to wait for the results of the examination. Then we'll see."

"But of course, we keep all options open. After all, the transfer market just opened a few days ago," Zorc said.
