Rummenigge provides update on contract negotiations with Lewandowski

Bayern München remain in talks with Robert Lewandowski over a contract extension, says club boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Robert Lewandowski revealed back in April that talks over an extension of his contract with Bayern München, which runs until 2021, had begun.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has now provided an update on the negotiations.

"It's not wrapped up yet, but Robert feels extremely comfortable at Bayern München. If you look at his body, he's a player who can easily play at the highest level for a number of years," Rummenigge told Bild.

Lewandowski actually wanted to leave Bayern last summer, but the Bavarians were reluctant to let him go.

"If you have such a player, you don't give him up. That's why we decided to not think in that direction at all last year," Rummenigge said.

The 30-year-old netted 40 times in 47 appearances for Bayern last season.
