Exequiel Palacios sees Leverkusen as a stepping stone

Exequiel Palacios admits he sees Bayer Leverkusen as a possible stepping stone to a bigger European club.
Exequiel Palacios, who recently joined Bayer Leverkusen from River Plate, hopes he will be able to catch the eye of even bigger clubs with his performances in the Bundesliga.

Asked if he believes playing for Bayer Leverkusen could be a stepping stone to a bigger team, Palacios told Kicker:

"That's one of the reasons why I decided to come here. I know that Bayer gives me the basis of taking the next step, and that the big clubs are keeping an eye on the players from Bayer."

The 21-year-old says he talked to his Argentine compatriot Lucas Alario, who joined Leverkusen from River Plate in the past, before making his decision.

"Coming to Europe is a great opportunity. I talked to Lucas Alario about the club in advance and found out that something is growing here."

Palacios, 21, has signed a contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2025.
