Hoeneß reveals Chabot will miss out against Lautern, Bredlow to start in net

Speaking at a Monday press conference, VfB trainer Sebastian Hoeneß revealed that defender Julian Chabot will remain out for tomorrow's DFB Pokal fixture against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Hoeneß also confirmed that back-up keeper Fabian Bredlow will start in net.

VfB Stuttgart defender Julian Chabot remains eligible for tomorrow evening's DFB Pokal fixture against 1. FC Kaiserslautern despite his league suspension, but will have to miss out anyway due to a muscular injury. This was revealed by VfB trainer Sebastian Hoeneß at his Monday pre-match presser.

“With Anto, Anrie and Ramon [Anthony Rouault, Anrie Chase, Ramon Hendriks, editor's note], we still have three central defenders available," Hoeneß noted, "Two of them will play. [Ameen Al-Dakhil] is not yet an option for the starting XI."

Hoeneß also guaranteed a start for back-up net-minder Fabian Bredlow. Normal #1 Alexander Nübel will be given a rest against the Pfälzer Red Devils following his tour of duty with the German national team. Bredlow has not yet appeared for Stuttgart this season, not even in the first Pokal round.

“We're happy to have a really strong number 2 in Fabi," Hoeneß said on Monday, "That's why he'll play. He trains well, is in really good form at the moment and has always shown that he is there when he is needed. That's why we are giving him the opportunity to perform."
