Fantasy Bundesliga: A guide to the new rules for the 2024/25 season

The Fantasy Bundesliga game is back, and while things may look much the same when you log in, the rules are very different this year. Here's a look at what's changed.

With the start of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season just around the corner, the new Fantasy Bundesliga game has arrived - and it's very different from last season.

For starters, there is no longer a browser version of the game. To play this season, you have to download the Fantasy Bundesliga app and access the game that way.

If you don't create a team before the season starts, you can still join the game and compete fairly with others. A new league will be created every matchday for newly-registered teams, making it more appealing to create a team after the season has begun.

Higher prices and team limits
As usual, managers are given 150 million to spend on a squad of 15 players (two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three strikers), but there is now a team limit that restricts managers to selecting a maximum of three players from the same team.

Prices are generally higher this season, making it more difficult to get all the top players in the game.

New scoring system
One of the most notable changes is that the scoring system has been overhauled, meaning that players can now easily score hundreds of points in a single match this season.

Forwards, for example, now get 80 points for scoring a goal rather than four. A midfielder scoring a goal is worth 100 points, a defender 120 points, while your goalkeeper gets a whopping 200 points for putting the ball in the opposition's net. A save is worth 30 points.

The points awarded for an assist, brace, hat-trick and penalty save have been given a similar increase.

There are also several new ways to earn points. For example, every time your player successfully completes a dribble or wins a challenge, you will receive between 5 and 12 points depending on the position of the player.

Each successful cross is worth seven points, while players also get points for producing passes to shots, completing long passes and passes into the middle third and final third.

A foul will cost you five points, a yellow card -20, a penalty -40, a missed penalty -60, a second yellow card -60, an own goal -80 and a straight red card will result in a 100-point deduction. Goalkeepers and defenders get deducted 20 points for every goal conceded.

Your star men will still have their points multiplied by 1.5. Just like last season, you can't change them once a matchday has started.

Five transfers and automatic substitutions
You can't change your formation when a matchday is underway either, with the game automatically making substitutions over the weekend to fit that system.

Player values are automatically adjusted between matchdays based on their latest performance data compared to the average positions for their position.

You will have five substitutions between each matchday and there will be no discounted players this season.

Unlimited transfer windows
The unlimited transfer windows, where you can make all the changes you want, have already been announced and will be as follows:

First international break: After Matchday 2
Second international break: After Matchday 6
Third international break: After Matchday 10
Winter break: After Matchday 15
Fourth international break: After Matchday 26
