Manuel Neuer on his contract talks with Bayern: 'We're not there yet at all'

Manuel Neuer has stressed that he is yet to agree a contract extension with Bayern München.
Before Bayern's 2-0 win over Union Berlin on Sunday, club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that he expects Manuel Neuer to extend his contract beyond 2021 in the near future.

However, speaking in the post-match interview, Neuer stressed that nothing has been agreed upon yet.

"For the moment, there is nothing to announce," Neuer said and added:

"Basically, I'm happy to play for FC Bayern, and they are happy to have me as goalkeeper and captain. Both parties are optimistic of course, but we're not there yet at all."

The Bayern goalkeeper was pleased to return to action with a win following the break caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

"We were on it from the start, even though we didn't have our best performance. We're happy that we dominated the game and go home with three points," the Bayern captain said, as cited by the club.
