Report: Niklas Moisander to leave Werder on a free transfer at the end of the season

Niklas Moisander's stint at Werder Bremen seems to be nearing its end.
Werder Bremen captain Niklas Moisander is set to leave the club at the end of the season, according to Bild.

The 35-year-old's current deal, which expires in the summer of 2021, will not be extended, as per the German publication.

Officially, however, no decision has been made about Moisander's future.

"We haven't discussed this and will probably not do so until the spring. We don't feel under any time pressure," Werder Bremen sporting director Frank Baumann told Bild.

Moisander has watched Werder's last two games from the bench, having lost his starting spot to Marco Friedl.

The centre-back joined The Green-Whites from Sampdoria in the summer of 2016.
