Confirmed: Hertha complete sale of Omar Rekik to Arsenal for €500,000
Omar Rekik of Hertha BSC has officially signed a professional contract with Arsenal.
North London's Gunners confirmed their first transfer of the post-Brexit era, snatching up the younger Rekik brother for a reported €500,000 transfer fee. Three months after his older brother Karim departed Germany's capital city club, Omar will move laterally to the Arsenal U23s.
The 19-year-old defender still awaits his first professional appearance. Over the course of three-and-a-half years in Hertha's youth academy, he was nominated for three senior team bench squads, but never used.
England's Sun Newspaper reports that the transfer fee turned out to be slightly less than that reported last week.
