Krösche insists Szboszlai hasn't been ruled out for the season
RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche denied reports that record transfer Dominik Szboszlai had been ruled out for the season on Friday evening.
Leipzig trainer Julian Nagelsmann garnered a great deal of attention following comments at a Wednesday presser that seemed to suggest star Hungarian attacker Dominik Szobszlai's recovery path did not jive with the team's standing in the title race.
The €20 million January transfer has yet to play a single minute for his new club. Nagging abductor issues have even preluded the 20-year-old from being fully integrated in team training.
The 33-year-old head-coach utilized a uniquely German metaphor; essentially conveying that, with so little time left in the season, it didn't make sense to consider a player for his matchday squad who's rehab timeframe left him out of the trainer's eye.
Germany's SportBild published a report two days later indicating that Szoboszlai had officially been ruled out for the rest of the season and would likely miss the coming European Championship. Club sporting director Markus Krösche denied this on Friday.
"Dominik's injury has been more persistent than expected," Krösche told German footballing magazine Kicker, "but he's now on a good path. There can be no question of a season-ending injury."
"He will increase his workload in the coming weeks and then be reintegrated into team training," Krösche insisted.
