As Dortmund breezed onto an important 3-1 victory at the Opel Arena in Mainz, Sancho provided a well-rounded display with two first half assists to put the visitors two goals up within the opening half.

His tally of assists grew to 11 after his match winning contribution.

With the brace of assists, the England international reached a landmark feat of 10 assists in three consecutive Bundesliga seasons that puts him within reach of one of his own country’s greatest players.

David Beckham is the only previous English player in Europe’s top five leagues to reach ten or more assists in four consecutive seasons – for Manchester United – between 1997/98 and 2000/01.

The 21-year-old has been outstanding all season for Dortmund in the league, scoring 8 goals in the process.

So far across all competitions, he has scored 16 times and made 20 assists in 37 appearances for Dortmund this season.
