Report: Wolfsburg have deal in place to purchase Maximilian Philipp
VfL Wolfsburg chief executive Jörg Schmadtke told his local newspaper that he hoped to have a permanent transfer for Dynamo Moscow attacking midfielder Maximilian Philipp finalized by next week.
Twenty-seven-year-old Maximilian Philipp's desire to remain in Wolfsburg has been known for some time. It now appears as if Germany's green company team have secured his services for next season after a purchase agreement.
VfL Sporting CEO Jörg Schmadtke told the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung on Friday that a deal had been reached with parent club Dynamo Moscow. As reported by German website Sportbuzzer, the Autostadt-Verein negotiated a price below the initially agreed upon €11 million purchase clause.
"I think we can announce a completed deal next week," Schmadtke told the newspaper.
The move will likely have consequences for the club's reported interest in Spartak's Jordan Larsson. That transfer is presumably off the table after the Lower Saxons have signed the ten-spot player they need.
Schmadtke also spoke on his club's interest in 1. FC Köln defender Sebastiaan Bornauw. The 57-year-old had no overt comment on the controversy surrounding the negotiations, but seemed to suggest that matters had calmed down a bit.
"We're in no rush, no time pressure" he said, "I've read reports that we've turned down alternatives. That's nonsense. We don't put all of our eggs in one basket."
