Report: Wolfsburg battle West Ham to lure talented Ukraine attacker

Roman Yaremchuk has taken center-stage in Ukrainian football in recent weeks after his exploits in Euro 2020.

The Dynamo Kyiv youth product has scored 2 goals in the first three games and made one assist in a total of 250 minutes of playing time.
According to transfermarkt.de, Wolfsburg are said to be interested in the 25-year-old striker, but face stiff competition from Premier League’s West Ham United, who are still seeking a replacement to fill the shoes of now-Ajax forward Sebastian Haller.

Sporting Lisbon were the first club to express their interest for the Ukrainian, back in April. After which, Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers also showed some eagerness.

He has a market value around the range of €15m - according to transfermarkt - but his valuation by the Belgian club is understood to be higher (approximately €20-25m).

His contract with KAA Gent is bound to expire in four years time, in June 2025.

Wolfsburg's new manager Mark Van Bommel is an admirer of Yaremchuk, who is said to model his game on his national team coach and legend Andriy Shevchenko.

For Gent in the Jupiler Pro League, Yaremchuk has scored 23 goals and registered 8 assists in 43 appearances throughout all competitions – a feat hardly matched by the league’s other strikers.
