Not unlike last summer, Danish international Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is being linked with a return to German football. Transfer rumors may nevertheless have some more weight behind them as the Tottenham midfielder is entering the final year of his contract with the north London side. Another underachieving season has seen the 28-year-old's estimated market worth dip to €18 million. Spurs may be interested in offloading him on the cheap.

Højbjerg failed to register a scorer point in 36 league appearances for Tottenham last season. Dortmund may be keen on brining him in to help shore up the midfield following disappointing campaigns from Emré Can and Salih Özcan. Højbjerg has extensive Bundesliga appearance for his former club of Bayern München. He also served on loan at FC Augsburg and FC Schalke 04, scoring two goals in 56 Bundesliga appearances.
