Elversberg momentarily climbed to second in 2. Bundesliga after a hard-fought victory over Magdeburg. Lukasz Poreba scored the only goal of the match five minutes before the end of regular time.
The former Hamburg midfielder beats Dominik Reimann with a curling effort to extend Elversberg’s unbeaten run to four matches. Last week’s draw in Kiel was the only time they failed to collect all three points in their current streak.
It wasn’t Magdeburg’s worst performance of the season, but they’re now defeated in six of their last seven games. Petrik Sander’s side will spend another week in the automatic relegation spot. Meanwhile, Vincent Wagner’s troops will hope to stay in the top three at the end of the matchday.
