Holstein Kiel entertain Magdeburg in their last home game of the season. The hosts secured their safety by winning four games on the trot. Magdeburg are also in decent form, but they need to pick up more points to salvage their spot in next season’s 2. Bundesliga.
Petrik Sander’s team won four of their last six games, although their only victory away from home came against bottom-placed Preußen Münster in this run. They are currently two points behind the relegation playoff spot, which is currently occupied by Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Kiel are the most in-form side in the division as they picked up 16 points from their last six games. Tim Walter’s side didn’t even concede a goal in each of the last three encounters. They will end the season next week away at Dynamo Dresden.
The reverse fixture was a six-goal thriller as the teams shared the spoils. Kiel’s captain Steven Skrzybski scored an injury-time equalizer to seal a point for the visitors as all the half dozen goals came after the 40th minute.
