After months of tough negotiations, it now appears that Dayot Upamecano has decided to extend his contract with Bayern Munich, which is due to expire at the end of the season.

According to Bild, the club and the player’s management have reached an agreement on the main points. Only the final details remain to be clarified, but these are not expected to pose any problems.

Upamecano is set to earn up to €20 million per year and is expected to receive a signing bonus of a similar amount.

In addition, the defender will have a release clause of €65 million, likely effective from the summer of 2027.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have both showed interest in luring Upamecano away from Bayern, but the German champions now appear to have prevailed.

The 27-year-old French centre-back joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2021 and has since established himself as a key player at the back.
