Biondic completes sensational move, Düsseldorf sign World Cup hopeful

Fortuna Düsseldorf completed another transfer, while Elversberg and Greuther Fürth announced their first signings of the winter transfer market on Saturday.
Mislintat on a mission
Fortuna Düsseldorf have already completed their second signing of the transfer market with the arrival of Jordi Paulina from Borussia Dortmund II. The Curaçao international boosted his chances of a World Cup participation with a move that could give him regular playing time in 2. Bundesliga.
The 21-year-old striker will wear the number 27 in Düsseldorf. Sky report that the transfer fee is around €400k, while BVB will earn 50% from future sales as well as holding a flexible buy-back clause in the region of €2 million.
Sven Mislintat knows Paulina from his time at Dortmund. The striker found the net 7 times in only 11 Regionalliga West appearances this season. Düsseldorf opened the market with the arrival of Satoshi Tanaka earlier this week, and they've now signed Paulina with a contract until 2030.
Curaçao is seeded in the same group as Germany in their World Cup debut. The second team of BVB also had to deal with the departure of Antonio Foti. The 22-year-old midfielder completed his move to 3. Liga side SC Verl on Saturday.
Elversberg signed Ebnoutalib's replacement
SV Elversberg acted quickly to replace Younes Ebnoutalib after the talismanic striker completed his dream move to Eintracht Frankfurt. Hoffenheim’s David Mokwa joined the promotion hopefuls as he received a contract until 2029.
The Frenchman with Cameroonian roots scored against Tottenham Hotspur and Anderlecht in last season’s Europa League campaign. However, he has only featured for the second team of Hoffenheim in 3. Liga this season. The Bundesliga club secured a buyback option for the 21-year-old winger.
Sky reported Elversberg are also lining up a move for HSV II’s Raif Adam. The 20-year-old winger was directly involved in 13 goals in Regionalliga Nord since the start of the season.
From Regionalliga to Champions League
Eintracht Trier announced the transfer of Mateo Biondic to Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise. The 22-year-old attacker has joined the Champions League club from a semi-professional league.
"Due to his performance data and development, it was apparent from early on that his path would lead to professional football. We knew he would not stay with Eintracht Trier for long," emphasized the Regionalliga club's sporting director, Daniel Hammel.
Lastly, SpVgg Greuther Fürth secured their first winter transfer with the arrival of Doni Arifi. The 23-year-old Finnish defender signed from the defending champions of Veikkausliiga, Kuopion PS. Fürth have conceded the most goals in the Hinrunde of 2. Bundesliga.
