Thomas Kessler has confirmed that another Bundesliga club tried to snatch the opportunity to sign Mikey Moore away from 1.FC Köln.
Köln's managing director discussed how they captured the 19-year-old talent this at the 'DuMont Talk' in Köln Ehrenfeld:
“If the public perception is that we, as 1. FC Köln, have a chance of signing such a player, you can imagine that one or two Bundesliga or international clubs might inquire about how finalized the transfer really is.”
Although Kessler didn't personally reveal the club, Fussball Transfers' speculates that it could have been Borussia Dortmund.
At the end of August, BVB was looking to replace for the injured Giannis Konstantelias who suffered a torn cruciate ligament.
However, the Westphalian giants ultimately reacted quickly and signed Ethan Nwaneri on loan from Arsenal FC.
“I don’t know Borussia Dortmund’s squad planning, with the exception of one player, and he’s still with us,” said Kessler, when asked if BVB pursued Moore.
“But he was clear all along and wanted to come to Köln. Mikey kept his word. The talks went well. Now we’re happy he’s here.”
In his debut during their 4-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart, Moore immediately hinted that he could be a game-changer for Effzeh.
