VfB Stuttgart continued their fine form in the Bundesliga with a 3-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. The result helped Sebastian Hoeneß’s side to stay in fourth in their push for Champions League football.

“We’ve got a good spirit in the team and a lot of faith in our squad,” said Hoeneß after the game. “We deserved to win. We weren’t sharp enough at the start and needed a while to get into the game. But after around 20 minutes, we got increasingly better. From then on, it was a really good performance from us.”

Deniz Undav shared Hoeneß’s thoughts about the team spirit. “The chemistry within the squad is even better than it was last year. We’ve got more quality and energy overall. Now we want to continue this good run.”

Both Hoeneß and Undav applauded Alexander Nübel for his penalty-kick save that denied the hosts an early lead, but the highest gratitude came from Jamie Leweling, who conceded the penalty before scoring Stuttgart’s opening goal later in the first-half.

“I wasn’t feeling great today, but as an attacker, you’re fortunate that you can still rescue your game with a goal. I have to say a big thank you to Alex Nübel and Ramon Hendriks (note: for defending the rebound) today. They prevented Gladbach from going 1-0 up with the penalty. After difficult weeks, the whole team played a role in this win today.”
