Julian Brandt looks forward to facing hometown club in farewell Dortmund game

Julian Brandt played his last game at Signal Iduna Park (Westfalenstadion) when he captained Borussia Dortmund in their 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. The attacking midfielder will play his 307th game for the club when they play away at Werder Bremen next week.

"The core of my friends and my family are all in Bremen," said Brandt about his last game for the Black and Yellows. "I never had a history at Werder Bremen, but since I used to stand in their stadium and cheered along, it'll of course be something emotional. It's a story you couldn't have written more beautifully for yourself."

Brandt also addressed his last home appearance for Dortmund. "If you play your last home game here, that's something special," he said in an interview with Sky after the game: "In football, things go very fast. And you might see each other again quickly. What you had here for years, you’ll only realize when it is really gone.”

The 30-year-old has yet to sort out his future club as he may be able to stay in the Bundesliga. "That's not going to drag on into August. I can confirm that," confirmed Brandt regarding his future.

"But, it's still too early, and we want to finish the season here first," added the former German international. The Green and Whites are one of the clubs linked with a move for the 2020/21 DFB-Pokal winner.
