In the aftermath of Borussia Dortmund's 5-3 aggregate defeat to FC Barcelona, head coach Niko Kovač expressed his immense pride in his side's fighting spirit in the second-leg.

“Today we played the best game since I've been here. What the lads pulled off today in co-operation with our fans was sensational. You can be eliminated like that, but I would still have liked to have progressed.”

"We have to draw strength from this game, the confidence, the belief in what we can do. I hope the lads have seen what's possible today. We had some nice moments with the ball and in transition play," he added.

The 44-year-old gaffer hopes that Dortmund can take inspiration from their European endeavours and give it their all for the final five Bundesliga games.

"We'll show the lads that up and down over the next few days so that they can show it against Mönchengladbach," Kovač concluded.
